Depends on which Jeep Cherokee is referenced.

Here are the models:

SJ - A full sized Cherokee with a 360 cu in V8 (not real common)

XJ - Most common of all the Cherorkees, came with two motor sizes.

Four Cylinder: 2.5 liter

Six cylinder 4.0 liter (standard and High Output)

The 4.0L six cylinder firing order is: is 1-5-3-6-2-4

Four cylinder would be 1-3-4-2 with a clockwise distributor. Six cylinder would be 1-5-3-6-2-4 with it having a clockwise order as well.
