For a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7L, the automatic Transmission Fluid capacity depends on a couple factors -- whether it's 2WD (RWD) or 4WD -- and also what specific transmission the vehicle was equipped with. For the 42RE transmission: 4.0 quarts For the 45RFE or 5-45RFE 2WD (RWD) models: 5.5 quarts For the 45RFE or 5-45RFE 4WD models: 6.6 quarts The recommended fluid type is MOPAR ATF+4

I am not sure what you mean by reconfigured. If the cruise is not working the first things to check are the vacuum supply to the servo and to check the pcm for trouble codes.
It's an oxygen sensor malfunction. Believe it's bank 2 (right side), upstream. May need clarification on exactly which one of the four.
I own a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. According to the owner's maual, the vehicle is capable of towing 5000 lbs when properly equipped. Properly equipped equals: Heavy Duty Cooling System Transmission Cooler Sythetic Rear Axel Lubricant. Class III Hitch. Electric Brake Controller The tongue weight of the trailer should not exceed 500 lbs unless you have a load distributing hitch, then it can go up to 600 lbs. I installed the transmission cooler myself and switched out the axle lubricant. I did not ugrade to a larger capacity radiator; however, when towing up grades, I turn off the Air Conditioner. I also run synthetic in the transmission. Have not had problems yet. I pull a 3000 lb unbraked HOLMES utility trailer; but realize that you have to be extrememly careful because of the lack of trailer brakes. I do not like to pull more than 2000 lbs unbraked on the road because the curb weight of the Jeep is only 3800 lbs. I also pull a 4000 lb Shamrock Model 19 Hybrid Camper equipped with brakes and a load distributing hitch. I have also installed Monroe Coil Overload shock on the rear because of the weak rear spring found on the Cherokee. The Shamrock is a bear to pull up hills and on the interstate, mainly because of the other impatent people on the road. In the flatlands, mainly no problems with common sense. The transmission cooler can be bought online or from most parts retailers. If you do it right, should take approximately 3 hours to install. (I had to remove front of grille, down to AC compressor/Radiator/Air Intake box, to get my hands in the areas they needed to be.) Fairly straightforward installation with the right parts kit. Hope this helped.
You buy a Haynes Repair manual 1993-2004 for 20 bucks and a case of beer, because your gonna get extremely annoyed... But it can be done! Also, carparts has the pump for under 100.00. Jeep wants 700.00! Give it a shot, the worst thing you can do is drop it off at the jeep dealership.
The transmission shift solenoids are inside the transmission on the valve body.

Jeep likes to have additions to the vehicles names where they were offroad trails or where there are extreme conditions and exploration. For instance, the rubicon, sahara, and overland.
The overland stagecoach was under attack by Indians. The overland route was the longest, but the safest.
