When the original artist redoes their own song, it's called a "remake" (like the Police "Don't Stand So Close To Me '86"). When a different artist does someone else's previously released song, it's called a "cover" or "cover version."

its called a remix !! not necessary the music should be changed or added even if its sung by someone its called as remix

What would you criticize about the Jonas Brothers music?

I would say that the background music, like the beat and the music, is so repetitive. Most of their songs sound the same music wise. Just listen to their songs without the lyrics. Forget they are singing and concentrate on the music. Most of their songs sound the same. They're nice because the lyrics and messages are different but the songs all sound the same. I'm a huge Jonas Brothers fan though.

How do you teach what a lyric is?

Lyrics are the words to a song. Many songs have both music and lyrics, while some (called instrumentals) just have music. To teach about lyrics, think of them as the lines to a poem. Poetry uses words and literary devices (including metaphors and similes) in order to paint a picture-- that is, to make the subject real in the mind of the reader; song lyrics do the same for the listener: they are the writer's way of communicating. The lyrics contain the writer's ideas, emotions, opinions, and perspectives, which are shared with whoever hears that song.
