Check the fuel line that comes off the body hard line (from the gas tank) and goes into a flex tube to the throttle body (all of this is in the engine compartment). There is a plastic cover that goes over the soft line to protect it from chaffing. Only problem...it is chaffing the line and causing a leak inside your engine compartment and that's why you only smell it when you are standing still at idle. If you peel back the covering you will detect a pin hole leak and the smell will intensify. It happened to me...However, Jeep wants about 100 bucks for the new line. Go to Autozone and buy a fuel line and 2 clamps...easy fix. Been driving it for a year and never had a problem. I can't remember what diameter the hose is but if you cut the old one you can match it in the store.
Maybe because there's no such car? The last year for the Cherokee was 2001. I had the same problem on my 2003 jeep grand cherokee. One reason it will stay on is after you wash it or a good amount of water gets in the engine. If it is below freezing the water freezes in the radiator causing the fan to continuously run
More than likely a loose air hose. Easy to fix, just tighten or get a new jubilee clip
Check to see if your electric radiator fan is working. With the engine running, turn on your a/c, the electric fan should start up. If it does not, when the engine gets hot during idle, the fan must start up or the engine overheats. You will need to replace the fan.
If a V8 with full time four wheel drive doing city driving that is not too far off. The list of fuel mileage killers inlude low tire pressure, hard driving, excessive idling, dirty air filter, worn spark plugs, check engnine light on for an engine performance issue, etc.
It could be the fuel pump, if its when you first start the car up
something is loose
Rough idling is whenever the vehicle's motor "misses" or does not fire causing an imbalance and a loss of rotation reducing the motor's power and causing excessive shaking.
There is no such thing as a 2003 Jeep Cherokee. The last year for the XJ was 2001.Answercheck radiator fan relay. who ever this is saying that there is no such thing as a 2003 jeep Cherokee needs to stop trying to answer questions. you are an idiot. I have a 2003 Cherokee loredo so do your home work and stop being pretentiousSpeaking of idiots, can't you even tell the difference between a Cherokee and a GRAND Cherokee? These two vehicles have almost nothing in common except for the drive train. The XJ Cherokee has been out of production since the end of the 2001 model year. I stand by my answer. Also, the last year for the LAREDO package on the XJ Cherokee was 1992. I have one of them.
this answer is hard to find
Cars will use more gas idling than starting the car.
a dirty air filter or a dirty fuel filter will cause a diesel to smoke
replace the cam sensor
Cracked Fly Wheel
My guess would be to look at the motor mounts to see if they are loose or broken.
want to know if my starter is going bad if
My 1986 Honda Accord Dx just started idling rough and dieing at turns and stops it is a carburated 2.0 witha maunal transmission
you most likely have a horrible fuel sensory causing your car to be bad at idling. also you may hvae reved your engine to hard and that is causing it to idle.
