I'm guessing that you mean a Serpentine belt. This is the multi grooved belt that runs the Power Steering, alternator, waterpump, a/c & other items under the hood. It's called a Serpentine belt because it snakes back & forth around pulleys to run a lot of different items under the hood. It replaced some cars having 2-3 separate belts under the hood.
