There are, of course traditions, and some are more flexible than others. in the Bluegrass school of C&W, (for example Dueling Banjos) only acoustic instruments are allowed and often there is extremely skillful musical artistry akin to instrumental jazz, Hot licks, or instrumental breaks without singing, are common. The use of the Older types of (Wood Hull) Steel Guitar such as the Lap Steel is common. The fiddle, Mandolin and sometimes high-toned tenor guitar carry the (Top end) rhythm is important but many (not all ) true country groups eschew drummers. Musicians and singers often double on more than odd instrument, like Cyndi Lauper on an sort of instrumental with a steel guitar in (All through the Night) Rather like the (All Saints) tradition(borrowed from New Orleans jazz)- Song smight start out in low gear but nearly always pick up temp in the third or last verse- Ms Lauper really pours on the Coal inthe last verse of (All throught the Night) -some C& w is really a rural form of Improvised jazz, but generally eschews drumming, as did the (Folk Rock) used inthe Folk Masses in the R.C. church up to the early seventies.

Country music features a wide variety of Musical Instruments. If you listen to traditional country music, you will hear guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and maybe even a harmonica. Country music has changed over the years and so has the instruments being used. The country music genre has become more and more mainstream, bringing in sounds from other genres of music, including pop and rock. If you listen to mainstream country music, you will hear a variety of guitars, including acoustic, bass, and electric, as well as drums, and piano. Country music hasn't completely abandoned its traditional sound though, so you will still hear the fiddle and banjo on mainstream country radio, it's just not as prominent as it once was.

Explain how western got to be a part of country music?

Along with country music, you have the territory of land, that is also known as country or countryside (including horses, fields, medows. and farms). Beginning in the 1930's, cowboy actors and singers began to come on the scene, and alot of the western sound was the same as country. Fiddles, guitars, banjos, harmonicas were some of the major instruments that were used in both country and western music. Then, these cowboy and cowgirl actors began recording country songs as well. Then, the combination known as Country and Western Music was established. Western Music performers such as Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, The Sons of the Pioneers, Tex Ritter, Gene Autry and Patsy Montana were able to bring even more fans into the world of country music. However, by the mid-1960's, the making of cowboy movies had pretty much disappeared. Also, the country radio stations began to cease to play the western music that once was popular. So, the term Country and Western Music, would soon be changed to just Country Music.
