David- overdose on drugs
David Ruffin was replaced Eldridge so he was not an original temptation but he was named one of the original 5 because he replaced Eldridge before they really blew up
The Temptations still perform and Otis Williams still leads the group. original members such as Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin, and David Ruffin have past away from illnesses such as Cancer, RA, suicide, and drug overdose. Other former Temps have toured in The Temptation Review.
The latest member of The Temptations who died recently was Richard Street, who passed away on February 27, 2013.
There was never a female in The Temptations group.
None of the original Temptations is alive. There are two groups who tour - one is called "The Temptations" and one is called "The Temptations Revue". There is one member in "The Temptations" who was a replacement for an oringal Temptation.
The Temptations were a successful Motown group in the 1960s and 70s. For awhile they were known as "The Hitless Temptations" as they had not scored a hit on the charts.
