It Depends on How you die. I'm sure drowning is far different than being thrown into a volcano. As for actually being dead, It is a complete loss of the senses, Including the passage of time. The closest known experience is If you're put under for an operation that takes some time. When you awake you feel as if you've been out for only seconds. Being dead is timeless, one second is a billion years.
