In his hofner he used hofner/pyramid stock strings
On his ric he used maxima (ric stock) when he could no longer get them he switched to TI flats which are the nearest in tone
On his fender I'm not 100% sure but I know on the botr album he used Danny laines bass and they where strung with black nylon
I ain't got a clue about his other basses

Paul played a 1966 Fender Jazz Bass on Glass Onion, as well as on Yer Blues, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Sun King and Mean Mr. Mustard.

Bass strings are MUCH MUCH thicker. They use more metal to make and are also harder to make.
On Think For Yourself Paul McCartney uses a Gibson Maestro Fuzzbox on his bass and I believe the distortion heard on Revolution is achieved by plugging the guitars directly into the mixing desk.
John Lennon played Lead/ Rhythmn Guitar...Paul McCartney played Bass Guitar and Electric Piano...George Harrison played Guitar and Ringo on Drums
I use them, and I love them. They have a fluid feel to them, like it just fits naturally. They sound excellent. They're very dependable, as well as beautiful. My only problem is the strings- I hatyed the strings that the bass came with. I instantly replaced them with some Fender strings. But other than that, this is the ideal bass. I love it!
The Beatles DID NOT play their "usual" instruments at all... Ringo DID not play the Drums Paul DID NOT play the BASS George DID NOT play Lead John DID NOT play Rhythym HOWEVER>>> Paul does play an Acoustic guitar, accompanied by the violin and the by rest of the orchestra of George Martin, their producer.....
