James Patrick Page, (born 9 January 1944) started out in a band called Neil Christian and the Crusaders (not Freddie and the Dreamers) before bad health made it impossible for him to tour. After this he concentrated on being a session musician, rejecting the Yardbirds first offer for him to replace Eric Clapton in 1964. He later joined the band when they asked him again in 1966, staying until they broke up in 1968.
