He first performed solo at age five in 1963 in a school talent show after his brothers refused to let him join the group. Afterwards, they let him, and he performed with them for years.
His first solo single was released in 1971 entitled "Got To Be There." He was 13.

The landmark Thriller album was released in December of 1982 when Michael was 24.
