It sounds lke the battery. Check the battery cables to make sure they are tightly attached to the battery. Check for debris that may need cleaning off.
it depends does the car turn over if not most likely it the starter
It could be the starter, keyswitch, neutral lockout switch, wiring connector or any of a number of other problems. Unfortunately you have to just track it down.
Low battery voltage? poor battery connections?
It seems to me that the contacts inside the switch may be going bad. Or the solenoid/starter may be on the brink of going bad. It is normal to turn the key all the way into start position and most accessories go out temporarily until car engine starts and then when key switch is released back into run position the rest of the accessories return power. Look to see if the ignition plug to your starter did not come loose or un plugged. Since this is on the same side, possible disconnect of the starter ignition wire became disconnected
First check the wiring to the starter motor solenoid, battery connections and earth wires to make sure they are tight.Other problems could be with the ignition switch if rest is OK.
My 2002 GMC Envoy won't start,no lights come on when trying to jump start the battery. And my key won't remove from the ignition. What's should i do?
If the lights come on, it's obviously not the battery. It could be a number of things. IE spark plugs, ignition switches, starter, alternator etc. Also, you should make sure you have gas in the car... -_-
The reason it wont start when the lights don't come on is because at that point your eec a.k.a. ecu,pcm or computer isn't coming on. the causes could be ignition switch or eec relay if you can locate the relay that is the most likely cause.
Do lights come on when turning ignition on? If so, then you have a bad starter/solenoid/relay. If not then, you may have a bad battery or connection or ground.
out of gas prbably
Dead short between ignition switch and starter solenoid trigger wire?
Check the ignition switch itself, sounds like it may be the problem.
It could be the starter, keyswitch, neutral lockout switch, wiring connector or any of a number of other problems. Unfortunately you have to just track it down.
Is it when the ignition lights on the brake lights are stuck on? If so adjust the brake light switch at the pedal.hope this helps Answer: Its the park lights. The vehicle is probably in park.
It is normal if other lights come on at the same time. All of the reminder/warning lights should come on when ignition is in idle (key's in ignition, but the car is not running)
I had a similar problem with a Pontiac some years back. It was a bad dashboard ground. It may not be it, but I would start there.
Set your light switch to "auto" on the dash and your lights will come on automatically with the ignition. Turn your light switch on your dashboard to "auto" or "automatic" and the lights will come on and off with your ignition switch.
