Like Shimmer, this a song about a girl/woman re-entering the life of the singer. Most people say this a song about desperation, and I agree. But it also about anger and resentment. You can clearly hear it in the singer's voice (besides the lyrics). Shimmer is more about longing and yearning.

I think that the singer describes the desperation he FELT when they broke up. He says: Don't you remember anything i SAID, when I SAID, don't fall way.......

Later in the song, the lyrics go: she CRIES (present tense) don't fall away.....

The first few lines sound like the girl re-enters his life and she expects everything/him to be the same. That's why he says "What did you expect to find? Was it something you left behind?" Basically, things aren't the same as you left them. Time goes on, but you think I'll be there for you, like when you left me.

I believe he is resentful, as he says: I WANTED, YOU turned away, you don't remember, but I do. YOU NEVER EVEN TRIED.

Basically, she thinks he/things will be the same as when she left. However, times passes and he reminds her how badly he WANTED it to work, but she just gave up. Now, it seems like she may have changed her mind, but he's done with her.
