Probably. It has been around since its design in 1936, and its last major update in 1953, the Speed King has been sold in the millions. Certainly there are more modern versions, e.g.Axis, Gibraltar, Pearl, Trick and Yamaha, and many arguments can be made in their favor, individually, and as a group. But for universality, longevity, and even price the Speed King has held its own for more than fifty years.

I have a Ludwig Accent CS custom bass drum for my drum set. I am hoping on adding another bass drum Do I need to buy the same one or which one would work best?
hey, I play a vintage Ludwig kit and finding the exact bass drum has proved futile. It really depends a lot on what you are hoping to do. If you want the "look" from a dbl bass kit, i'd say get the same bass drum if you can. If you want it for the practical use, i would invest in a dbl bass pedal. if you use another bass drum that is different you may have a headache getting them tuned to sound exact (though this can still be an issue w/ the exact custom bass drum if you get two). With a good dbl bass pedal, both beaters hit the same drum for the same sound. Not sure if this helps. Either way, keep hittin' away! Hey thanks so much! I am the questioner but what set do you have? I am not the world's best drummer but I practice all the time and I am really improving... Can you upload a picture of your set so i can get some ideas? Best way i have found is if you purchase a headphone jack splitter and connect 2 bass pedals into the splitter... the game wont recognize you have two pedals and will allow you to use double bass... works brilliant! only hard bit is getting a single bass pedal as there not sold separately EBay or your friend is the best way! Hope it helps :)
