Jennifer Lopez is a fair skinned individual with Caucasoid faciocranial features. By that standard she is 'White'. 'Race', however, is a social/historical construction, not a biological or genetic one.

'White' people have historically been those individuals with Caucasoid faciocranial features from Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, Central Asia, and parts of South Asia and fall along a skin tone spectrum of fair to brown skin; and skin tone has only been one factor in determining whether a person was 'White'.

For example, while some people in the US such as the Irish were not considered 'White' and were brought to the Americas as slaves, people such as the Spanish were among the principal colonizing powers that created the concept of 'White' (they being 'White' while others such as the Irish and Native Americans were not 'White'). The Irish (and many other European groups) were considered uncivilized, backward, and prone to violence as opposed to the 'civilized' colonizing powers such as Spain, England, and France. Thus, 'White' was linked to behavioral and cultural attributes, not skin tone.

At this point some may erroneously say that skin tone differences are due to some people being 'pure' and others 'mixed'. For the record: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 'PURE' PEOPLE. Everyone on the Earth is the product of admixture (or 'mixed' if one prefers); everyone on the Earth shares roughly 99% of their genes; and everyone on the Earth has ancestors - whether distant or more recent - that looked vastly different than they do now.

In 2005 an extensive DNA survey by microbiological anthropologists found that roughly 1/3 of American 'Whites' have recent African admixture (i.e. they are part 'Black'). This is higher than the MAJORITY of Latin American countries and ranks the US alongside countries such as Brazil and Colombia with similarly high admixture rates among their 'White' populations.

If we go by this measurement along with the historical notions of 'White', that would mean that most Latin Americans are 'Whiter' than US 'Whites'. This is an example of how 'race' can be conceptualized in different ways using different measures.

There are two concepts people must understand: phenotypical and genotypical. The phenotypical (physical appearance) difference between people may seem large, but the genotypical (genetic) difference is so small that for all intents and purposes there is no multiplicity of races but one single human race. 'White', 'Black', 'Asian' and all other so-called 'races' are the product of social and historical circumstances, not biological or genetic conditions. This has been the common thinking in the biological and anthropological sciences for more than 50 years.

Is Jennifer Lopez 'White'? By all criteria, yes, she is. If she is not than every person around the world labeled 'White' would have to be reclassified as there is no such thing as a pure 'White' people.

(Previous answer demonstrating the subjective nature of 'race'.)

It is difficult to say, many hispanics are white many are not. Jlo seems to have that in-between color where she is extremely light if she is dark skinned or slightly dark if she is light skinned.

Suffice to say, JLO is hispanic and so am I. I am puerto rican AND white as many hispanics can be. Jlo seems to be in that area where dark hispanics will prefer to think of her as dark skinned (but light dark skinned) and light skinned people will think of her as light skinned. It's hard to say, plus what really matters is how she feels as a person, how she feels she is treated and/or represented.

She is a Latin. Even though her skin is mixed brown and white, she is a Latin.

Latin and White are totally different.

Because it is different both Living standard and Appearance.
