Eminem's parents are Deborah R. Nelson Mathers-Briggs and Marshall Bruce Mathers, Jr. When Eminem was only 18 months old, his father abondoned them leaving Deborah to raise Eminem solely. Eminem's maternal uncle Ronald "Ronnie" Nelson was the one who offically introduced Eminem to hip hop. Ronnie committed suiced in 1991, devasting Eminem. Eminem met his future wife, Kimberley Anne, in 1989 when they started to date. They were married on June 14, 1999 but were divorced in 2001 after Kim's second DUI. They remarried in January 2006 but it didn't last the year, they divorced in December of that year. Together they had Hailie Jade Mathers in December 1995. Eminem also adopted two daughters; Alaina "Lainie" Mathers (child of Kim's sister Dawn) and Whitney (Kim's child from a former relationship). Eminem is also the legal guardian of his younger half-brother, Nathan.
