Portable movie players have become much more affordable in the last few years. You can now buy a a dual screen portable dvd player on amazon.com for as little as $100.

Portable CD players are available from all major retailers, including WalMart, Target, KMart, etc. The price has dropped dramatically since they are no longer the "hot" item they once were. iPods are indeed pushing CD players aside, but for now, they are very much an item on the shelves.

It's really impossible to gauge this question. While iPods may have slightly decreased the sales of portable DVD players, the devices really do fulfill two different functions. An iPod is really only suitable for viewing by one person, so they are not a suitable replacement for people who want to have DVD players for car rides, air travel, hotel rooms, etc.
