You can find an engine diagram in your owners manual for your 1997 4 cylinder Jeep Wrangler. If you no longer have a copy of your owners manual, you can contact Jeep, and they will send you a new one.
On my 97 jeep grand Cherokee, with the 5.2 liter v8, its located in the distributor, under cap & rotor.
There is a idle pully that you put a socket and rachet on and rotate it so that it takes the tension off the belt.
Its the cylinder closest to the serpentine belts
the 3.1 liter v6 and the 4 cylinder both have sepentine belts

If it has a serpentine belt it should have an automatic belt tensioner If it doesn't have a serpentine belt then alternator should be the adjustment/pivot point
if it has the 4 liter 6 cylinder than its 6 quarts of oil
The 2001 Jeep Cherokee 3.7 liter engine cylinder had bolt torque specification is 150 pounds. The cylinder head bolts should be torqued in 50 pound intervals.
