Try contacting the management group listed on the back of their CDs. Unfortunately though you won't like the answer.

Metallica an still fill 60,000 seat arenas. They have a crew of around 200 people who have to be paid representing 8 or 10 different unions (caterers, truckers, riggers, electricians, etc.) and bring 30 tractor-trailers full of gear. In order to book them you 1) Find a venue that can hold them and 2) Strike a deal wiih their production company for a share of the ticket sales. My guess is they're looking to clear around a million bucks a night, which would be net to them of $50 per ticket with average sales of 20,000 per show - plus a big chunk of merchandise sales. They're going to ride that arena concert circuit as long as they possibly can because that is where the money is. I don't see them coming to your local "Hard Rock Cafe" or "House of Blues" any time soon. Second option - if you know one of them you could probably get them to play for free. Or not.
