What changes to the piano did Johann Christian Bach make to the piano?

Actually it was not Johann Christian Bach who made the first changes, but his father, Johann Sebastian Bach.Prior to Johann Sebastian Bach, the piano (or clavier as it was originally known) was not played using the thumbs or the fourth fingers. JS Bach was the first one to play the piano using his thumbs with his hands rounded on the keyboard. He hardly moved his hands, unlike keyboardists who preceded him, yet kept his fingers well rounded on the keyboard.Johann Christian Bach was the eleventh son of Johann Sebastian Bach. He made some significant changes to the nature of piano music, as his compositional style tended towards the more expressive. He is less known, simply because the magnificent career of his father overshadowed his own work. Also, because Johann Christian spent much time in Britain, his style developed differently. He was sometimes known as the "English Bach".

Did Johann Sebastian Bach believe in god?

Bach was a Christian by religion. He spent much of his working life as Kapelmeister (Musical director) in churches in Germany. The denomination of Christianity prevalent in Germany is Lutheranism - a Christian Protestant Church founded by Martin Luther who was instrumental in separating the church in Germany from Rome as, in those days the Roman Catholic Church was corrupt. So Bach was a Lutheran. He arranged many Lutheran hymns (called Chorales) for organ, and provided what we now know as his 'Chorale preludes' - many of which are regarded now as short masterpieces for the organ.

Who did Carl Philip Emanuel Bach marry?

Carl Philip Emmanuel Bach married Johanna Maria Dannemann in 1744. Together they had three children; Johann Adam, Anna Carolina Philipinna and Johann Sebastian "the Younger". Johann Sebastian went on to become a painter, but he died on a trip to Italy in his late-twenties. The other two children went on to become musicians, but neither of them would grow up to be as successful musician as their father or their grandfather. Carl and Johanna remained married until he died in December 1788. He was buried at the church of St. Michael in Hamburg.

What is Johann Sebastian Bach great work?

There is not one single composition that is considered Bach's greatest work. There is a general agreement that Bach's compositions reached a universally high level. So it's very much a matter of taste: some will say his St. Matthew Passion, others will say his toccatas and fugues for organ or his Brandenburg Concertos, others again his piano works such as the Goldberg Variations.

What instruments has Bach performed on?

Johann Sebastian Bach, composer of the Baroque Era - Born - 21st March, 1685 in Eisenach, Germany Died - 28th July, 1750 in Leipzig, Germany JS Bach seems to have played the organ almost exclusively. Much of his composing seems to be focussed on keyboards, but when he moved to the Cothen Court to work for Prince Leopold, he was able to exploit the instrumental resources there, presumably the musicians, but not to actually play the instruments himself.
