Hit Mode until it gets you onto the alarm. Then hit Start to toggle between 4 different combinations of alarm (no alarm, beeps on the hour, alarm, alarm and beeps on the hour) there are two illegible wee dots in the top lcd that are supposed to say what is going on, but you will need a microscope.

It is fairly easy to set an alarm on a GE cd clock radio 7-4801A. Hold down the alarm button. While doing this, you will want to change the time shown. this will be the time the alarm goes off. Finally, turn the alarm on.
the answer is in the owners manual
Turn your key to accessory, but watch out, it will drain your battery
Select the 'alarm set' mode by using the left lower button. Then press the right button to turn the alarm or the hourly reminder off, or to toggle through the options. The daily alarm indicator is a five-line bar at top left. When displayed, the daily alarm is ON.When the five-line bar is not displayed, the daily alarm is OFF.The hourly beep indicator is a bell which displays about 5mm to the right of top left. When the bell displays, the hourly beep is ON.When no bell displays, the hourly beep is OFF.When in 'alarm set' mode, use right button to toggle through the options. When the display shows the alarm/beep settings you want, press left lower button once to set your selection(s) and return to watchface.
According to my uncle who is James Reynolds son."the alarm quit working on his wind up clock... so he rigged the key on the back of the clock to the volume knob on the radio. when the alarm started going off, the key would spin around and turn the volume up on the radio."
