Input your identification number by pressing the preset buttons in sequence. The identification number is on the User Card that came with your Hyndai. If an incorrect identification number is entered 3 times, it will not be possible to cancel the incorrect number until one hour has elapsed with the ignition switch in the "ACC" position and the radio turned on. After one hour, press and hold the BAND(FM/AM)button for 3 seconds or more until the incorrect number disappears and CODE is displayed.
1.Dissconect the negative battery cable 2.Remove the instrument panel center bezel 3.Remove mounting screws and pull the radio out of the instrument panel 4.Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna lead and remove the radio
If you are haveing trouble pulling the bezel out then follow the rod. You would have to loosen it. There are two screws to the right of the gas peddle.
The Alero has a theft-deterrent feature called THEFTLOCK. Whenever the radio loses power (battery removal, theft etc) it is rendered useless unless you have the unlocking code. If you bought the car new you should have written the code in your owners manual.Follow the instructions to re-activate the radio. If you bought the car used(excuse me - pre owned)maybe you got an owners manual with the code written in it by the previous owner.(If you're lucky.) If not, don't worry. Just go to GM dealer Chevy or Pontiac. For about twenty five dollars or so and about an hour and a half they can fix it. Be sure they give you the code and instructions in case you need to do it in the future. Don't let a dealer tell you it couldn't be fixed. He wants to sell you a radio.Go to another dealer. I did, and he fixed it for free.
The radio has a four or five digit security code that must be entered using the numbered station pre-set buttons on the radio. The security code is printed on a small plastic card enclosed with the original owner's manual. If the card is missing, you must contact an authorized Honda Dealer to get the security code. They will require you to provide the Serial Number from the radio, and sometimes the VIN from the vehicle, and also proof of vehicle ownership. This is done discourage the theft and re-sale of the radio / CD / stereo units. If you have the radio removed from the vehicle, take it with you to the dealer, along with proof of ownership. Most dealers will not charge a fee for recovering the security code.
That information is in your owners manual.
There are several sound system options available in the Solara and setting methods may vary. For most, all you have to do is scan or tune to the station you want then press and hold the desired button for that station. Either you'll hear a 'beep' or the display will flash (or both) to indicate the setting has been saved. Tune to the next station you want to save and repeat the process with another button.
Most systems have at least two banks of five FM stations and a single bank of five AM stations. Toggle through them using the appropriate button on your radio.
If, for some reason you don't have an owners manual for your Solara, get one. The car offers many optional settings you may not even be aware of. The factory alarm system has several modes, door locks can be set to operate in various ways when you put the car in gear (if it's an automatic) and you'll need to know how to reprogram your electric windows and moonroof (unless you have the convertible) in the event of a power failure or battery change.
Cheers
By using the radio preset buttons to insert the correct 5 digit code. If you do not know the code do not guess. Look for the small white plastic card that came with the car that has the code on it. Also look on the side of the glove box interior, console lid, and in the trunk. If you cannot find the code then go to the Honda Owners website and register your Honda. There you can get the code for free.
Once you get the radio serial # (on the back of the radio or in the glove compartment) and the vehicle VIN number, you can call Hyundai Customer Service (USA - 1-800-633-5151) or (Canada - 1-800-461-8242) and they can give you the 4 digit code needed to reset the radio. This is the process I took with my 1995 Hyundai Sonata.
