To take the radio out of a 1987 - 1990 Chevrolet Celebrity:
First take off the lower dash trim panel, the one in front of the radio.
1. Remove the ash tray, then the slide it goes in on. This may require removal of the under dash cover. Reach up through the hole where the ash tray was and remove the wire from the cigar lighter, then take the nut off of the back of the cigar lighter socket. The socket will then pull out through the front.
2. Use a thin blade screwdriver and release the headlight knob from the shaft. There is a notch on the back of the knob, the release is in that notch. With the knob off remove the nut from around the shaft.
3. There is a plastic tab that goes under the dash panel to the right of the radio. Pull gently out on the trim panel to make it bow slightly, then the tab will pull out.
4. If the car has a rear window defogger unplug the switch wires.
5. The trim panel should now come off. Use care not to break it.
6. There are three screws that hold the radio in place, remove them and pull the radio out far enough to remove the antenna and wire plugs, then remove the radio,
Re-installation is the reverse.
pop the plastic ring around the stereo and control knobs. you have to shift it into drive or l2 with the car not running and apply the ebrake you will see the 4 screws there are several wiring harnesses to unsnap that are difficult REMEMBER WHERE YOU UNSNAP THEM FROM and dont forget the antenna that is attached at the bottom right of the factory stereo!
Once the large dash panel is removed, it's easy to see the screws holding the radio to the dash structure. To remove the dash panel, just pull. It has about 11 snaps. It might be easier, though, if you remove the lower panel. A few visible screws hold that on. The tilt lever will be in the way. Pull out on that and it will pop out. The Hazard switch might be an obstacle. Tilting the column down should be sufficient.

Radio suppressors for the alternator etc., and suppressed spark plug leads.
I had the same problem in my 1988 celebrity. All I had to do was look at all the fuses under the steering wheel and replace the burned out fuse that controled the radio. I've discovered that the radio is not only controlled by its own fuse, it also gets power via the courtesy lights fuse. Either one can kill a radio. If the radio is aftermarket, check its own inline fuse if it came with one. Don't forget the ground(s). Some require both the black (negative) wire, AND the chassis to complete its ground.
Despite the claims of the radio starting at 1988, Satellite radio started at 1987, with the United States Army fiddling around with the radio.
