There should be a small hole near the edge of the carrier. Insert a straight rod, such as an unbelt paper clip, straight in and press gently. The carrier should unlock, and you should be able to pull it out (slowly) by hand.If there is no carrier, such as for modern car CD drives, I do not know the answer. Someone, please enhance this answer. Thank you. Research suggests various methods, with the best method being to take the unit to the car dealer.

Being a guest in someone's house has nothing to do with car insurance. If someone backs into your car then their car insurance is responsible.

I wanted to add to my original question...Our car was repossessed by the finance company because they said they found out someone else was using the car because of car payments being sent from a different address. AND, they stated that they wanted to see the condition of the car. I thought a car would only be repossessed if you were late on payments? I have never heard of this, so I don't know what is going on.
They want to know who made the first car you owned.

Generally speaking, no.
