"Dress in a red ripped tee. Also wear skinny jeans. The slip on a drenchcoat. You also need to die your hair RED!!! Then you are a punk!!!!"
Wow. This is the only answer anyone came up with? I disagree.
Punk fashion has seen several evolutions and involves a myriad of common styles. Some 'punks' will even refer to it as a uniform, a definition of self and a means of identifying yourself as a follower of punk Rock Music and culture. To some, punk is an identity in itself and a community you can belong to like family, brethren, and brotherhood.
Of the common characteristics of punk fashion, the following are most common, but this list is tremendously limited and should not be accepted as definitive or finite.
-Skinny jeans.
-Band tees (sleeves removed, ripped, etc.).
-The use of spikes, studs, and safety pins.
-Chuck Taylors, Doc Martens, Demonias, Creepers, etc.
-Denim jackets (usually lavishly decorated with pins, spikes, studs, patches, etc.).
-Ass flags (large patches hung from the back of your pants).
-Studded belts.
-Bondage pants.
-Spike collars, cuffs, bracelets, etc.
-Ostentatious hair styles (liberty spikes, mohawks, etc.).
-Extreme piercings.
-Leather jackets.
-Chains, straps, etc.
Again, a very limited list, and not everyone adheres. Originality is a cornerstone of punk rock music and fashion. It's about rebellion, expression, and making a statement. Also, punk rock fashion is not be confused with 'scene', 'emo', or 'goth' fashion. In fact, most punks would see that comparison as a very deep insult.
EDIT: Of course these punks would find that as an insult. Most of them think you are too stupid to think otherwise. most people who are punks don't want to dress like other people they don't care what's popular they want to look like a rebel.punks don't have a uniform they just dress how they want. true punks don't dress like other people if they do they are called "posers"...IN LAYMAN TERMS..DRESS HOW YOU WANT NO OFFICAL OUTFIT also copy bad.. think yourself good...dys don't listen to other people..punks want to be as distant as possible from society outrage the public as much as possible.. these include crust punk and anchro punk...hope you get the point..^_^
You have to have the personality too.

the color of choice is black of course. common ascent colors include white, red, purple and blue, however what colors you want to use is up to you.
styles include Victorian garb to futuristic things. spikes are common as are the use of flowers. most will use things like sculls and bats or other "spooky" icons as ascent items. corsets are very much loved by most goths. (if you want to get a real good one they run $100+ and be sure to be fitted by a pro)
makeup wise it is all up to you! be creative! (think of the 80s) black lipstick is NOT a must, it is common but not all goths like it. (i personally prefer blue or deep red) it is common to have thick eyeliner, lots of eye shadow and various artistic embellishments. such as swirls, curves, spikes, stitching, and just about any thing else!
the goth dress is all about showing your dark creative side!
It's pretty simple if your hair isn't already black grap a batch of hair dye and dye it black, staighten it every day, wear dark, black thick eye linner, wear chalky white fondation all over the face, wear black clothing such as long black jackets or tight black jeans and a whole lot of rings on your fingers and your done.
NOW THIS IS AN EASY ONE!
You wear brightly coloured clothes along with short spikey gelled hair. Also trainers + you like to be loud + boistreous. girls wear short tight things + walaa
Goth style does not follow any specific dress code, but there are some basics that can get you started.
1. The traditional color for goth is black, but add any other color you want for interesting contrasts.
2. Well fitting clothes are most acceptable. Gigantic baggy bondage pants are generally considered a no-no.
3. Arm decorations like gloves, bracelets, wristbands, etc. are always a good choice.
4. Makeup is optional, but try to stay away from solid white-face stuff, it makes you look more like a clown (choose foundation that is close to your own skin color for best results.) Heavy eyeliner is common, often done in an ancient Egyptian style.
5. Heavy black boots or black shoes are the usual footwear.
6. DIY (Do it yourself) is often the best way to go. (i.e, make your own stuff.)
Tip # 6 is the most important. Doing things yourself allows you to express your own creativity, and you'll look a bit less like a clone. :)
The most important thing about metal is to not dress like a metalhead if you are not a true fan of metal. A scene kid wearing a Slayer shirt he bought from Hot Topic will impress no one who truly likes metal. That being said, I am a girl who listens to death, black, and thrash metal. I usually wear a band shirt with the sleeves and collar cut off with the sides sewn in so it fits me and a basic flannel shirt if it's cold; a pair of dark wash or gray jeans or cut off Jean shorts if it's hot; black flats, combat style boots, or high top converse, and a bit of black eyeliner. Some people wear studded or bullet belts or some just plain black or brown leather, I prefer a plaid black canvas belt, as I don't wear leather. I have long, naturally dark, wavy hair that I leave natural. The guys that I've seen will wear something similar, though they often leave the sleeves on their shirts and will wear baggy shorts if it's hot. In terms of a jacket, a black leather, army style, or jean jacket is acceptable, band logos/patches/studs optional. Jean vests with the aforementioned patches/etc. are common too. Hats are tricky, a few people wear trucker style hats with band logos on it or army style caps. Long hair is preferable for both males and females, blond hair or dark/black. Bright colors in hair or dress are generally not accepted. Piercings and tattoos are common. This is obviously my opinion and subject to debate, but the most common piercings that I see in the metal scene are the septum, the lower ear (sometimes gauged) and the eyebrow. Tattoos depend on the person. I also carry a black fake-leather bag with zippers on it. Some guys have wallet chains, and almost all of them have black leather wallets. I have a simple fake black leather wallet.
Most importantly, if you're trying to get into metal, listen to the music, not just what Guitar Hero and hot topic promote. True metal fans love the music, not the attention they get from the clothes.
You need to feel goth to be goth. You don't have to dress goth, or write goth. You have to be someone that thinks about death and sorrow and the dead. In fact, a goth could live his/her life without ANYONE knowing that he/she is goth, except for themselves. It's about being goth inside. But if you really want to get into goth alot and you can manage to dress goth without your parents freaking out, then go for it!
Marilyn Manson isn't really a goth. You could consider his makeup and dress style goth but then you would have to call Alice Cooper and KISS goth. But if you want ti be the same type of goth this is what you do, 1 dress in a way that you find shocking yet cool to your own style 2 Be yourself. Manson is 41 years old he has been a "goth" since before there were really "goths" as we know them.
It's Debated, they dress like it but many say they're Nu or Alt. Metal. At most they're Gothic and at least they're Alternative
No, she is so not goth.
Let me get this straight...EMO DOESN'T MEAN THEY CUT THEMSELVES. Some people do, but I wouldn't refer that as emo.It is a stereotype. Emo really is short for emotional. goth might like goth Rock Music like the cure or Bauhaus and might dress in dark or black. Emos might like MCR and Hawthorne heights but might also have tight jeans and a hair fringe
be yourself guys will appreciate you for who you are... if you athletic dress athletic if preppy dress preppy if you goth dress goth you see the pattern?
goth freaks
he doesn't dress goth, that is just his style. his favorite colors are black and grey so thats what he wears the most.
Well for one, you shouldn't be bothered with labels. Two, it depends on how you act, dress, and what you believe. If you believe you're a goth, then you're a goth. If not, then you aren't. Simple.
People may dress in goth because they like the style. There is no real answer behind it. People also may just dress like that because that is how they feel about life or they just like dark colors. Hope I could help! =)

Goth is a subculture in music and dress style. Although some people who dress gothic in appearance may participate in various forms of witchcraft, it is not true of all people who classify themselves as goth.
I don't know . I think he's going goth.
They don't like to conform but they all dress exactly the same
Well, if by the 'goth style of dress' you mean all black, white facemakeup, black or unnatural coloured hair then no, of course you don't. But bear in mind that you are more likely to be accepted into the goth society if you wear more dark shades. A lot of goths define themselves that way through music. The thing is, to be wholly accepted into the goth community, you of course need to share some interests. Art? Music? Style?
