I do remember hearing Peter Paul and Mary do Puff the Magic Dragon on the Captain Kangaroo show. The thing is, I remember hearing it multiple times when I lived in San Diego. I moved from San Diego in 1962, and PPM didn't release the song until 1963. I was trying to reconcile this, which is how I stumbled across this thread. I don't remember seeing them perform, but, as I remember, there were drawings which went with the song.
I don't recall PPM appearing but I do remember hearing the song and pictures were being drawn while the song was playing. I am trying to find the video of this. Has anyone contacted CBS regarding this cause surely they would have the tapes????
PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON! Absolutely I remember! And I really would like to see it again! Has anyone been able to find that show/program?
itβs funny that I just sent my daughter the song from Peter, Paul and Mary. To have my daughter and grandkids learn the song for me. For some reason, when I hear PP&M sing it, a smile and tears come. Itβs just one of those memories.
YES! No, you are not imagining things -- they really were on Captain Kangaroo. I saw this episode also and I've been trying to find someone else who remembers it too! YAY US!
Well weather you think he is good at drawing or not depends on your view of it. For an example, This is his drawing from when OKEJ magazine asked him to draw a duck, see related link below.
Yes he was rather talented at drawing, many of his sketches are available to see online.

Drawing is very simple: take a pencil and scribble all over. Drawing can occur at home, schools or workplaces(it happens in workplaces for designs or ideas). It is said that drawing is only 3% useful. Although, in workplaces; drawing is 56% useful. I couldn't remember the accurate percentage of drawing being useful in workplaces.

A mnemonic device is something that helps a person remember something. For example, sentences made up to remember the order of Mitosis. A mnemonic cartoon is similar, except it is a drawing to help a person remember.
