I don't and John was my family's pastor from 1992 until he left. We still attend that church and we still don't know why he left. The main impression we got was that no one wanted to talk about it when it was happening and most people still don't want to talk about it. I have been attending church my entire life and have never come across another pastor so genuinely loved by his congregation. His last service was very odd. In other churches, when a pastor leaves, he would preach and there would be a warm farewell. For John's last service, the choir was singing and singing and singing song after song like the band on the Titanic. Finally they brought out John. He said something like "I never thought this would ever happen" and then he was gone. We still attend this church and the staff will occasionally refer to "past struggles" but it is almost like the name and the question that you dare not speak. 2nd answer - I was at the seems-like-it-will-never-end business meeting where his departure was decided. In my opinion, the problem was a disagreement over authority. I, a lifelong Baptist, think John agrees with Baptist teachings on authority and may not realize it. He believes that the pastor should be the highest authority in a church (I agree). But, the Friends church has authorities above the local church and those authorities wanted the church run their way, which was in conflict with John's. Therefore, John had to go. Added 8/24/08 - My understanding is that the main concern was that the Friends Church wanted John to reduce his teaching time so they could increase the singing/music worship. John felt that the amount of time to teach was already limited and that hearing the Word was the most important reason to come to church and therefore should not be reduced any further.

What should a youth pastor wear to church on Sunday?

It will depend upon the church. God doesn't care what anyone wears to church as long as it is decent.

Can a pastor tell his minister that he can not preach?

Who is "he"? If you mean "the minister is forbidden" then depending on the church, probably not. If you mean "the pastor is forbidden" then probably yes. If, by "can not" you mean "useless", then yes, anyone can do that.

Who can call themselves pastor?

What can be done if southern baptist pastor won't let anybody else preach from his pulpit his words?

If the Southern Baptist pastor refuses to let anyone else preach from the pulpit, it may be worth discussing the situation with the pastor directly to understand his reasoning. If the pastor is not open to allowing others to preach, members of the congregation could consider discussing their concerns with the church leadership or seeking guidance from the denomination on how to address the issue within the context of the church's organizational structure and beliefs. Ultimately, if attempts at dialogue and resolution are unsuccessful, members may need to consider finding a new spiritual community that aligns more closely with their values and beliefs.

Should a woman pastor a church?

No, the Bible does specifically specify that Pastor/Ministers be male.of course a woman should pastor a church, they have just as much right to as any man. Paul himself said;"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)anyone can and should be a pastor, your gender doesn't matter, for we are all equal in god's eyesYes, of course women can pastor a church. In the Bible women are called into leadership rolls. Deborah was a judge and the leader over all of Israel, Huldah spoke God's word to both king and priest, and Miriam was another prophet whose song became holy scripture. Notice that these were very patriarchical times, and yet God kept calling forth women to lead.

Is it okay to date a married pastor?

Considering that this question is posted in "Cheating" you probably already know the answer.Just because someone is a pastor does not change the fact that he or she is married.Ask this: Would the pastor's spouse think it is OK? Please, please say this is a joke question. It is morally wrong to cheat with anyone, period. But with a pastor? You are not only helping betray the pastor's spouse, but the pastor's congregation as well.

Can a couple get married in a church if one is from the Church of Christ and the other is from the Seventh-day Adventist Church?

== == If the church is only a setting for the wedding, almost anyone may be married in a church, generally speaking. Regarding the person who officiates, I don't know the rules in the Church of Christ, but an Adventist pastor would not be willing to perform a marriage between an Adventist and someone of another faith: in the Bible, it says to not be "unequally yoked," which for Adventists means that you shouldn't marry someone who has different beliefs. A Seventh-day Adventist pastor has to be ordained in order to be able to perform marriages. The position of the church is to marry a non-Adventist couple or an Adventist couple. Marring a non-Adventist with an Adventist is what the rule of the church does not allow. But there is the other option, civil marriage in court.
