Katy Perry is her stage name. Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson is her birth name, but in her early career she sung Gospel Music as Katy Hudson. But apparently that was too close to actress Kate Hudson, so she changed her surname to Perry, which is her mother's maiden name, so I guess she did legally change her name.

Well, it depends on what Taylor you are referring to. The only way a human can get a new last name I believe is if they legally change it (though I'm not sure you can do that) or if they are a female, and they get married and they choose to. They may choose to keep their maiden name or their husband's last name. However, anybody can change their name on a website such as facebook, twitter, etc. Changing your name on those websites does not legally change it, however it changes what people can search you as on that website.

Beyonce HASN'T changed her name legally, but she wants to now be known as Sasha Fierce, kinda like Alecia Moore is known as Pink/P!NK.
