As far as the songs Madonna wrote, she had help with another mind with what seems like most of them (which is ordinary for the best artists). But the singing talent, obviously, is Madonna's own.

Madonna's role in the music industry has been as perhaps the greatest and most influential recent activist in today's musical direction--not from the quality of her work per se, but from a humanitarian perspective whereby Madonna impersonating types of people who were never before considered as competent to sing (the critic's view being Madonna's egoistic strategy to attract all sorts of people to like her), whether intentional by Madonna or not, actually facilitated opportunities for those who have the personalities that Madonna pretended to be by virtue of just acting like them and singing brilliantly--such as a teenager (Madonna, Like A Virgin, Like A Prayer), a young blonde (Madonna, True Blue), a sex symbol (Erotica, Like A Virgin), a religious symbol (Like a Prayer), a punk (American Life), a greedy person (Dick Tracy, Like A Virgin), a fashion phenomenon (Vogue), a pensive reminiscer (American Life, Like A Prayer, Ray of Light, Confessions on a Dance Floor), or an extraverted dance performer (Vogue, Confessions on a Dance Floor)--in other words, the Katy Perry, the Taylor Swift, the Lady Gaga, Beyonce, the Miley Cyrus. But probably Madonna's only worth as a human being.
