Probably not. I say 'probably' because it could be possible that Cobain did a lot of work with her on the songs and influenced her to edit and change many of them. Actually, this is quite possible, since her best CD "Live Through This" was released/made when Courtney was with Kurt. Not to say that she isn't talented, but Kurt was extremely musical and had amazing abilities to fine-tune songs. He was an artist. And Courtney probably used him for editing/advice on her music, maybe to even write a few lyrics. But no, I wouldn't go as far to say, 'Kurt wrote the entire album and she's a liar'. There's definitely Courtney in that particular album.

Kurt Cobain was found dead in his home in Seattle in this room above the garage on April 8th, 1994, though they said that he was dead for at least three days before the discovery of his body, landing the estimated death date at April 5th, 1994. He was twenty seven years old and died of an "apparant shotgun wound to the head" mixed with more than twice the lethal dose of heroin. There is alot of conspiracy behind the Nirvana frontman's apparent suicide. Some say that his wife at the time, Courtney Love of the band Hole, fired the gun, some say that she hired someone to kill him, other's say that the illuminati killed him. There are tons of rumors as to who did it and why. Anyways, to answer your actual question in one sentence, he was declared dead on April 8th, 1994.
This is a highly debated issue. However, if you had read the Kurt Cobain Journals, you would know that he was a very depressed individual. He had also tried to commit suicide before, and had thought about it a lot. Through this information, my best assumption is that he did commit suicide. Evidence, though, can point to his death being a homicide. Before he died, he shot up on heroin. The amount of heroin in his bloodstream would've prevented him from pulling the trigger of the 20-gauge shotgun, let alone pick it up. People also believe that he was able to handle that much due to how much he took. Also, no fingerprint was found on the shotgun. The suicide note did not have only Cobain's handwriting.
They were never quite as popular as other grunge bands, like Nirvana - Courtney's husband's band - or any of the others like Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Garbage, et cetera. Hole had a good following, but people began to resent Courtney Love so much after Kurt Cobain's suicide that some went so far as to even accuse her of murdering him. She was never very well-liked after that. But Hole was a pretty well-known band in the 90s when grunge was popular. Today it's not as well known, even though Courtney re-released a new CD with the group again.
