On a 'Tommy' documentary, Pete Townshend reveaed that suring the filming of the Rock, Keith Moon and Oliver Reed became really close friends. The two connected splendidly, both loved acting, partying, drinking and having fun with one another.

Eventually, (quoting Pete Townshend) the two begun, "leading one another on" and soon enough, became secret lovers.

After a while, this whole 'leading one another' business slowly but surly started taking its toll on Keith...as Pete Townshend quoted, "Luckily in the movie he played Uncle Ernie, so the toll it took on him didn't matter because the worst he looked the more 'in character' he became."

So to answer that question, Yes. Keith Moon did have a homosexual affair (with Oliver Reed in fact) but that does not make him gay(nor Oliver Reed). Just because one has had a same-sex affair with someone, does not make them officially gay.
