Moreover, he had barely any involement at all in the slow tempo so-called romantic jazz albums he released, it was mostly the work and leadership of Bobby Hackett (the trumpeter you hear on all the albums) that Gleason hired and payed very little credit or money to. As Hackett admitted before his death, Gleason's role was only to drop off the paychecks.
