Yes, he did. Most of the Smothers Brothers albums from the 1960's were recorded live during their nightclub act where Dick and Tommy provided their own instrumental accompaniment. There are also several videos on YouTube from TV specials and concerts in which Dick is really playing the bass. He never did anything fancy, just privided very simple and supportive bass parts.
