Well, in my opinion, Powell flutes are usually the best. However, there is the Haynes Flute which is basically tied up with Powells. Haynes deals with a company called Amedeus. It comes with a Haynes headjoint. Those are also pretty good. If you're trying to save up a little money than you should stick with the Amedeus by Haynes.
Well, I say that Gemeinhardt is the best flute you can get.

I think it's Greg Patillo. He can beat box while playing the flute. I'm not sure about any other flute players but this guy is amazing, so good.
It is extremely rare for a flute to come with instructions. For help with beginning the flute, the best advice is to seek a private teacher who has played flute for many years. If private lessons are unavailable, look for a good flute method book such as Standard of Excellence or the Rubank method.
A student's flute is cheaper because a proffesional would need a high quality violin because of their talent and expertise. For some reason, the best can only have the best. Students aren't that educated in learning flute because they are just beginning where as the professional has studied for many years.
