Actually acorrding to the game there was a sub zero that killed scorpion then Quan chi ressurected him then scorpion killed sub zero. Then sub zeros brother noob became the new subzero which scorpion is currently trying to kill.

The original Sub-zero (Bi-han) killed Scorpion during a mission for retrieving the map of elements from the Shaolin Temple. Scorpion then became a revenant and came back seeking revenge nor only for his death but for the massacre of his entire clan and family eventually killing Sub-zero (Bi-han) which later also became a revenant (Noob Saibot) and his younger brother Kuai Liang took the Sub-zero legacy and eventually becomes Scorpion's ally after clarifiyng that his family and clan were killed in reality by the sorcerer Quan Chi.
