it could possibly be the battery or the alternator check both. from the way it sounds that the alternator is going out and is making the battery work to hard and causeing it to go bad it could possibly be the battery or the alternator check both. from the way it sounds that the alternator is going out and is making the battery work to hard and causeing it to go bad
This problem is almost assuredly fuel related and is one that I experienced with my 95 Grand Cherokee. Perhaps I got lucky but the first thing that I did was to take off the cover of the throttle body (your air cleaner tubing goes into the throttle body) and spray throttle body cleaner down into it.....a little bit to start, then start the car. It helps to have someone in the car with the gas pedal but you can also feather the gas via the linkage under the hood. The spray has a tendency to flood the engine. Several sprays of that worked the varnish and stickiness out of the butterfly valves and the fuel jets in the throttle and it still runs fine.
The jeep will start and run for appox 10 miles then it dies, until it cools off The coil will stop Firing,I have a 94 Grand Cherokee, that did the same thing to me I replaced the coil still happen It was the pcm put it on the computer before it leave you on the side of the road.
the planetary gears are locking up in the tranny. your trans case could be getting hot ,over heating the tranny or your tranny could need flushing. this is serious i wouldn't drive until it is fixed if you like your jeep and don't want to spend alot of money.
I just had the same problem with my '91 wrangler. It would sputter after it was warm and then not start once engine was off. I had to let it cool down for a good 2 hours. It was electrical. I needed a new crank shaft censor. After that she ran like an angel. I also got an injection flush. Good luck.
You need to check the crankshaft position sensor located on the top of the intake near the rear of the back side of the altenator the wire is usually attached to the alternator bracket my 1997 grand caravan 3.3 did the same thing good luckAnswerIt sounds as if you have an ignition module going out, or a fuel pump/relay failing. This is very dangerous as the vehicle could stall out at any moment leading up to an accident. You should'nt drive this thing until the problem is fixed. Also be sure the fuel filter isn't plugged up, replace it.
Check the PCM = Power Control Module aka Computer. This has happened to me in the past and what was happening was the wire harness that plugs into the PCM was binding up somewhere and pulling out from the PCM. In other words, No PCM - no run run.
crank sensor ?
A Jeep Grand Cherokee that starts and dies might have a problem with the choke. Depending on how new the vehicle is, there might be a sensor for the choke that is not working properly.
Get a new car dumb dumb!!!!
Check the crank sensor, i had the same problem with my 94 Grand Cherokee
If your 1990 Grand Plymouth Voyager cuts out and dies for not reason, but starts after a couple times of cranking, the starter might be going out. You can have the starter tested.
Replace the fuel pressure regulator, it is leaking fuel past the diaphragm and flooding the motor.
Has the fuel filter been replaced?
Sounds like it has to do with the micro-chip in the key. Starts for about 3 seconds and dies. In 1999 Ford installed a micro-chip in the ignition key for Anti-theft purposes. If the chip isn't there, or is malfunctioning, the vehicle starts briefly and dies.
Fuel pump is gping out it may have enough fuel to start then it works like a vacuum but the pressure is not enough to keep it going. Same thing happend to my Buick Lasabre.
IF YOU JUMP IT, IT WILL THEN START AGIN BUT IT WILL KEEP DOING IT SO CARRY JUMPER CABELS. HOPE THIS HELPS
there is a shorted fan relay
A 1999 Isuzu Rodeo that starts and then dies is not getting enough fuel, or the fuel mixture is off. It could be a clogged fuel line, dirty fuel filter or the fuel pump. It will need to be serviced.
