Incorrect: They weren't cancelled. The contracts of the main stars of the show were up after 5 seasons. There was a primary lead (not Gale Harold) that would not resign no matter what and it was known long enough in advance so that they were able to wrap it up as they did after the 5th season. I miss it still!
