Actually, that is not entirely true. While most TV and radio stations in the US do focus on local and national news, there are stations that cover international news as well, although probably not as thoroughly as some people might like. CNN and Al Jazeera America both cover news from the countries you named, and so does NPR (National Public Radio). Magazines like The Week and online newspapers like Global Post and the Christian Science Monitor also do in depth reporting on other countries; and the New York Times offers some international coverage too.

But I understand your larger point. For whatever reason, most American media outlets seem to believe Americans are not terribly interested in international news, unless it involves a crisis like a tsunami or a plane crash, or unless the story involves Americans in some way. To save money, many of the networks even cut back on international news and closed their foreign bureaus, instead relying on wire services and independent reporters from England or other countries. But fortunately, thanks to the internet, there are ways that any American can read newspapers from other countries and keep up with what is going on in those places.

Because U.S. news networks do not have many teams of journalists in these places :)
