It's banned from being on TV because of the smoking and drinking. Disney didn't want to continue producing it on television for younger viewers. It can still be purchased, but it will no longer be airing on TV.
It was never banned, it was just a rumor going around for a long time since it was hard to find at one point in time. It was out of production for a long time. That used to happen to Disney features all the time.
From what I read it was never banned, just a myth that it once was. I wish they would show the old show and the cartoon verison kids today would like it an it would be better for them than some of the movies that are being showed
