As an African American woman, I have come to believe this is true because African American people are attractive, but their appearance also seems to be intimidating to other people. I have traveled to other countries and everyone treats African American women like Goddesses as they are intrigued with our hair, hips, and culture. African American peopole are desired by almost everyone, but it is for some reason taboo to discuss this publicly. I have observed that many women of other races desire to have relations and/or offspring with African American men. This can be attributed tothe fact that dark skin is a symbol for strength and dominance. These are things are the epideme of masculinity while they are not looked upon as ladylike. African American woman also tend to assimilate in the " American" culture whereas African American men do not see the need; they are accepted the way they are. Again, many women of other races desire African American men. African American women tend to try and fit the mainstream model of beauty in America which, face it, is a Europeanesque figure, light skin and long flowing or curly rather than kinky or nappy hair. On top of all the things mentioned in this entry, we women judge each other way more than do men. If you think you're this or that, chances are men don't so keep your head up and love the skin you're in. After all, it represents all the King and Queen ancestors of yours and is your gift to have for life! My point exactly.

Did African Americans face prejudice segregation or racism or a combination of all three?

They face and create all three. Any group choosing to be a hyphenated American (as in African-American, Jewish-American, White-American) is creating and supporting prejudice, racism and segregation. Until and unless the group members choose to be simply "American", there is no chance at all for those negatives to disappear.
