Luke is resisting giving in to the Dark Side, so Darth Vader is fighting Luke with his light saber, and cuts off Luke's hand to show him his power, and to even further persuade him in joining him (Darth Vader) on the Dark Side. This act of cutting someone's hand off is called Cho Mai according to Jedi records. This is considered merciful by most Sith Lords who prefer killing their opponent.
Darth Vader(Anakin Skywalker) cut Lukes hand off because they were having a lightsaber duel. (This was in Star Wars: Episode IV(5):The Empire Strikes Back).
Darth Vader
Yes, but not only once. In "Revenge of the Sith," Obi-Wan defeated the duel against Vader by cutting off both of his legs and his left arm. And in "Return of the Jedi," Vader got his right hand cut off because Luke Skywalker was giving into anger and he was dueling Vader within his rage. When Vader was originally Anakin Skywalker in "Attack of the Clones," Anakin lost his right arm during a duel with Count Dooku on Geonosis.
possibley Darth maul because he wasnt trained as long alough is a lot quicker.Darth Vader is very strong with the force he can throw objects with both hands on the lightsaber. and anakin put up a better fight vs obi wan.it realy depends on the area wich they were to battle.
Depends on how you look at it. Luke did cut off Vader's prosthetic hand and then realized he was doing wrong and he was going down the dark road when he saw his own prosthetic hand. Then of course, the Emperor took advantage of Luke refusing to give in to the dark side.
Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker) represents the father of Luke Skywalker, but in movies 4,5, and 6, he represents more of a negative role model to Luke and Leah. He is the basic result of what happens if Luke were to join the dark side. You can tell this connection in the final movie when Luke and Darth's hands are cut off but both show zapping robotics coming out of their arms, which is a very powerfull moment in the movie. This is my answer. Have a nice day
he did it in order for him to become the emperors new apprentis like anaki but he got his arm cut off
Darth Vader
It was cut off at the cloud city of Bespin when he was lightsaber dueling with Darth Vader
Darth Vader is classic. He has a weapon that can cut through anything and the force. He would destroy Megatron.

Luke Skywalker
Obi-Wan cut them off in the fight on Mustafar
Darth Vader has beaten him in Empire Strikes back and it would take him 6 minutes to beat him since Luke sees how the force works. But it eventually got to the part where Vader cut his hand off. Darth Vader would win.
