One opinion is that Aaron Ashmore leaving the Smallville series was not his own doing but rather the creative choice that the Smallville creative team had already decided on when they had placed him on the cast since it was stated that DC Comics had issues with Henry James "Jimmy" Olsen being around the age of Clark Kent whereas in the Superman mythology Jimmy Olsen was always younger than Clark Kent.

∙ 14y agoWhy did Aaron Ashmore leave his signature role? The silence is deafening from the studio, so we don't know if there was any typically covered-up disagreements over money or scripts that often lead to one being fired from a show. Its a fact that after he left -- or was dumped by them killing off his character -- he traded in a small potatoes Smallville supporting role for much bigger money in a major role the films "The Thaw" and "The Shrine" (See IMDB.com for more details). Good luck: He will need it to make a real career in movies.
