Okay so what happened was this: Spencer and Teddy were dating together, and Spencer did not have another girlfriend. Spencer started to get jealous that Teddy was hanging around other guys, even though she was not dating them. So, he met Skyler and became friends with her. Teddy did not know they were friends anyway. One day, Skyler asks Spencer if he had a girlfriend, and he thought about saying "yes", but he thought that Teddy would not care, so he said "no". So then they started dating behind Teddy's back and Teddy did not know. He only hanged out with Teddy when Skyler was not able to hang out. So then in one episode, Teddy finds out that they were dating, and Skyler finds out that he lied, and they both dump him.
