In the original book by author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919], Toto bit nobody. But in the posthumous 1939 film version, Almira Gulch said that Toto had bit her on the leg. And so she had gotten orders from the Sheriff to have Toto removed from Uncle Henry's and Aunt Em's farmhouse.

The character Toto didn't break anything in the beloved 1939 film version of 'The Wizard of Oz'. But the dog that played the role of Toto did. During the filming of scenes at the Wicked Witch of the West's castle, one of the guards stepped on one of the dog's feet. Terry [1933-1944], who acted the part of Toto, had to take time off from the filming until her foot was healed.
