Doeg and Achitophel, both of whom were officers of King Saul. King David also had to hide from King Saul for a time. Later, King David's sons Avshalom and Adoniyah rebelled (separately). Other enemies were Sheva ben Bichri and Shimi ben Gera.

David had many enemys during his life. I have tried to order them chronologicaly...

animals during his time as a shepherd (1 Samuel 17:34).

The Philistines ie. Goliath (1 Samuel 17:21)

Saul the King of Israel (1 Samuel 18:25)

He then worked with the Philistines for a brief period and later became King where his enemys consisted mainly of the Philistines, Moabites and Amonnites as well as his personal enemy Uriah (2 Samuel 12:9).

By the end of his life he had effectivly beaten down any immediate threats to his country and the reign of his son Solomon was undeniably the greatest period in Israeli history.

David came from a relatively insignificant family. No doubt the "nobles" considered him an upstart. He installed his own advisors and military leaders (Joab and the other sons of his sister, Zeruiah). He probably appointed other relatives to positions at court, which was common with kings. This was not just to elevate their family members. but also as a means of ensuring the loyalty of those closest to them. As long as David was on the throne their positions would be secure. Conversely, the former courtiers would have been replaced in their positions of power and influence. It's no wonder they wanted to get rid of him.
