Simon is the smart one out of the 3 and he is the oldest the middle chipmunk is Alvin even though he takes charge in everything else and lastly Theodore is the youngest and sweetest of the three.

Alvin is the middle child. Theodore is the oldest, but when he was adopted, it was predicted that he was the youngest. They eventually said that Simon is actually the youngest.
