The underlying importance, or perhaps moreso significance, is the hand forming the letter "L." If you have ever seen the gesture of calling someone a "loser," using only the gesture, it is often done by this same "lettering." It is this being seen as a Philly"loser" or more appropriately, underdog, that is at the core of gLee: the underdog -- the loser.
