Maybe their kid said, "MY TOY TALKED!" You never know what the creative minds

and Disney will think of next.

The inspiration for Woody came from a Casper the Friendly Ghost doll that Toy Story director John Lasseter had when he was a child. Originally, Woody was a ventriloquist's dummy with a pull-string (hence the name Woody), but all those aspects for Woody were deleted. However, they kept the name Woody to pay homage to Woody Strode, a Hollywood actor.
