There were not the fast food restaurants there are today, so there were fewer hamburger servers. Most boys went to work pumping gas and checking the oil on cars at a full service gas station. Some worked at bagging groceries and stocking shelves at a local supermarket. Others got out the lawnmower and started earning a few dollars mowing the neighbors lawns. Bussing tables at restaurants was another source of income. Girls did babysitting for a few dollars. Another forgotten job for teens was delivering newspapers. There were those who worked as lifeguards at pools, sold tickets and cleaned up at the movie house. Much of how they earned their pocket money depended on where they were living.
This isn't correct sorry,
If you look alot of the fat food businesses got started up in the 50s. So many teens probably got jobs there
Thanks! Buhbye!
