The spell that Maleficent put on Aurora was actually more of a curse. I don't think there was a specific name to the curse, it was just implied as being evil. The curse was that when Aurora turned sixteen, she was to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel, and subsequently, die from it. However, one of the fairies that was there, Merryweather, tried to weaken the curse with her blessing on the child. Instead of dying, she would just be put into a very deep sleep, and she can only be awakened again by true loves kiss.

The wicked fairy who curses the baby princess is the villain in Sleeping Beauty. In the Disney version of the story she is called Maleficent. She desses in black and purple and has a staff with a crow on the top. In folk versions she is often the king's wife or the princess' mother in law.
Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on a needle on a spinning wheel.
Sleeping beauty is a princess who had a spell cast on her by an evil witch. The witch said one day she will prick her finger on spinning wheel and die. One good fairy changed the curse so that Sleeping Beauty wouldn't die but go into a deep sleep. The only way to break the curse was for when she was asleep she would get kissed by true love AKA the prince. So obviously she pricks her finger, goes into a sleep, the prince kisses her and then happy ever after. One of the famous versions is the movie Sleeping beauty made by Disney. An all time classic.
The plot of sleeping beauty involves a young woman, who meets seven dwarves, she lives with them for a while, talks with them, and then one day an old woman calls her out of the house, she then offers her an apple, it causes her to be put into a coma, a brave night learns of this and fights her way to where the witch is keeping the young girl, breaks the magic coma spell by kissing her and they live happily ever after... at least that's what we think.
